IndieSpace is hosting four open houses to answer questions about the grants. The Virtual Open House events (on Zoom) will be on Thu. May 25, Tue. May 30, and Fri. June 23. The In-person Open House is on Thu. June 15.

Small indie theater and dance performance venues are home to many artists and cultural workers in NYC. They are the engine that drives art in our city and give us the space to gather, connect, experiment, and create the amazing artistry that enhances our lives every day.
Because of this, @IndieSpaceNYC has launched The Little Venue That Could grant program.
Funded with the generous support of the Howard Gilman Foundation, The Little Venue That Could provides unrestricted general operating support to New York City-based indie theater and dance performance venues with expense budgets under $750,000.
Grantees will receive unrestricted grants of $10,000 per year, for two consecutive fiscal years. A minimum of 10 grants, to 10 venues, will be awarded. Funds can be used to pay staff, rent, utilities, debt, or whatever your venue deems appropriate to help keep your doors open and thrive.

The Little Venue That Could program was created to provide unrestricted general operating support to New York City-based indie theater and dance performance venues with expense budgets under $750,000.
Funded with the generous support of the Howard Gilman Foundation, The Little Venue That Could program grants will be $10,000 per year, for two consecutive fiscal years, and can be used to pay staff, rent, utilities, debt, or whatever the venue deems appropriate to help them keep their doors open and thrive. Eligible applicants must be located in the five boroughs of NYC; have an expense budget of $750k or less in the last fiscal year, have been in operation for at least two years, operate at least one performance space with less than 99 seats; and have an active lease or deed. Current annual Howard Gilman Foundation grantees are not eligible for this grant.
IndieSpace will hold three virtual open houses and one in-person open house for you to learn more about the process and ask questions. Prospective applicants interested in attending an open house must RSVP by emailing hello@indiespace.org at least 24 hours before the open house. Requests for reasonable accommodations must be submitted via email to hello@indiespace.org at least five business days before the open house.

Accessibility: ASL interpretation can be made available upon advance request. The venue entrance is on the ground floor. You need to tell security that you are visiting the lobby to co-work with IndieSpace. There are two elevators to take you to the lobby on the second floor. The second floor has accessible bathrooms with ramps that are divided by gender, but there is signage that you are welcome to use whichever bathroom feels right for you. There are chairs with no arms and various couches for seating. Masks are optional in this space.
