Introducing: The Builders Series

We’re excited to introduce The Builders Series—a reimagined version of our former Growing Small Budget Organizations Call. With a new name and refreshed format, this space is designed for artists and cultural leaders who are actively building something meaningful, often while navigating limited resources and doing it all.

This series moves from monthly check-ins to quarterly, curated gatherings—each focused on a specific topic and led by a guest expert who brings depth, clarity, and lived understanding of the challenges small, artist-led organizations face.

We know many in our community wear multiple hats. That’s why we’re inviting guest experts who bring focused knowledge and practical tools—people who understand our field and are ready to share, not sell.

More than anything, The Builders Series is part of our continued commitment to finding intentional spaces for our community to gather, grow, and build – together.

What’s Changing (and Why)

  • New Name: Formerly the Small Budget Organizations Call, this program is now The Builders Series – because this is about what you're creating, not what you’re lacking.

  • Quarterly Sessions: We’re focusing on four intentional sessions a year, giving time to curate content that meets real needs.

  • Guest Speakers with Purpose: We’re bringing in individuals who specialize in one area, so you don’t have to wear all the hats—and they’ll come with an understanding of the realities you face.

  • Curated Themes: Sessions will center around topics that resonate with artist-led and community-rooted orgs.

  • Connected Programming: We’ll align themes with IndieSpace Together when possible, building on conversations across our ecosystem.

What to Expect in Each Session

  • A welcoming interactive check-in

  • A deep dive with a vetted guest expert

  • Space for open Q&A and real-time exchange

  • Tangible resources and tools to walk away with

  • A recorded session and recap materials available afterward

Who This Is For

  • Artists, cultural workers, and nonprofit leaders running independent or small-scale organizations (and artists who self produce)

  • Those juggling multiple roles, seeking grounded and strategic support

  • Anyone building something with intention, care, and creative vision

Dates: 

  • Tuesday, June 3, 2025, from 4:00pm to 5:30pm

  • Tuesday, December 2, 2025, from 4:00pm to 5:30pm

Format: Hosted primarily online, with occasional in-person sessions to be announced.

Access: Recordings and takeaways shared in a digital resource archive.
