We are currently accepting applications to use the West Village Rehearsal Co-Op from February 3 to February 23, 2025. This is a unique opportunity for NYC-based indie theater companies, collectives/productions, or individuals who need an extended period of rehearsal time. The selected group will have exclusive access to the space for the full duration.

Important Information
We are seeking indie theater companies, collectives/productions, or individuals who require the space for a three-week period and can commit to using it during that time. While the selected applicant will have access to the space for the full three weeks, it is not mandatory to use every day. The space will remain exclusively available for your use throughout the period if selected. The total cost for this exclusive three-week period is $1,200, which must be paid in full upon selection.
Additionally, during February, IndieSpace will be in a "Deep Breath" period. This means responses to inquiries may take longer than usual as we prioritize rest and reflection. Thank you for your patience and understanding!
About the West Village Rehearsal Co-Op
We partner with Rattlestick Playwrights Theater, HERE, and New Ohio Theatre to provide the indie theater community with low-cost rehearsal space at the West Village Rehearsal Co-Op.
IndieSpace shares access to the space and programs for six months throughout the year, while our partners program for the other six months. Our goal is to offer this space to our community for no more than $10/hour. For this special lottery, however, the selected group will be able to use the space for the entire rehearsal period at a discounted total cost of $1,200.
Who Is Eligible?
This lottery is open to NYC-based indie theater companies, collectives/productions, or individuals. We encourage applications from companies, collectives/productions, or individuals who identify as members of historically excluded groups. Additionally, priority will be given to those who have applied before but have not yet received time in the space.
About the Space
The West Village Rehearsal Co-Op is located at 68 Gansevoort Street. The rehearsal space is on the lower level of a commercial building and is accessible by an elevator. The playing space is approximately 34 feet by 27 feet with one column, and the ceiling height is 9.5 feet. While there are no windows, the space has a working HVAC system with Merv 13 filtration and WiFi access. Please note that cell phone service may not be reliable.
Here are some details about the space and equipment available:
Sprung floors
ADA-compliant bathroom within the rehearsal room and a second one in the hallway
A small kitchen with chairs, tables, and small appliances (tea kettle, coffee maker, fridge)
A Mackie 16-channel soundboard, two speakers, and four SM47 microphones with cords
Mic stands, six music stands, four short stools, and four tall stools
20 folding chairs and four folding tables
Basic track lighting
Additionally, a Roland RD-2000 88-key Stage Keyboard is available for use with a $200 refundable deposit. If this deposit is not financially feasible, please contact joel@indiespace.org for assistance.
About the Application Process
Applications will be reviewed, and the selection process will be conducted via a lottery system. Only one group will be selected to use the space during the designated period. This ensures that the opportunity provides the maximum impact to one organization or individual for an extended rehearsal period.
Please note that the West Village Rehearsal Co-Op is not available every day of the year. For this lottery, only the dates within February 3 to February 23, 2025, are included.
If You Are Selected
If you are selected through the lottery, IndieSpace will email you to discuss the next steps. You will receive a contract to sign, Rules and Regulations to accept, and an invoice for the $1,200 fee. Once the contract is signed and the invoice is paid in full, you will be provided with detailed information on accessing the space and other logistics to make your rehearsal process as smooth as possible.

IndieSpace’s mission is to provide this space at the lowest cost possible to our community. Please ensure that you are certain about your need for the time requested, as cancellations are difficult to manage and may prevent the space from being fully utilized. This special lottery is designed to benefit one group, and we ask that you apply only if you are committed to using the space.
